Online (inline) gloss meter GR-4 GR-2

It is possible to non-contact measure the gloss of inspection objects continuously produced in sheet form online (in-line).

The surface gloss of continuously produced sheets and plates made of paper, fabric, resin sheets, films, steel plates, etc., can be measured online and non-contact during the production process (in compliance with JIS standards). By measuring the surface gloss of inspection targets produced continuously in sheet form without contact, it is possible to monitor and record the process continuously from the beginning to the end of the roll without damaging the product. This allows for prompt responses in case of any issues during the production process and helps to reduce the occurrence of defective products. Additionally, if gloss management is desired in the width direction for the inspection targets, it is possible to monitor up to three detection units with a single PC.

PSTC-style rolling ball tack "QC-805P"

Use a clean and dry clip! Measure the average after five tests and measure the distance.

We would like to introduce our PSTC-style rolling ball tack tester, the 'QC-805P'. Before the test, a runway and the surface of the steel ball are cleaned with a solvent, and a tape measuring 1 inch in width and 15 inches in length is applied to the front of the runway. A clean and dry clip is used to place the steel ball on the release bar, and the ball is released. The measurement is taken by allowing the ball to roll directly until it stops on the sample, and the average value is calculated after five tests, measuring the distance. 【Corresponding Test Standards】 ■PSTC 6 ■ASTM 3121 *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] MTS Bionix System

We support research in biomechanics by providing test data for orthopedic surgical techniques.

At the Excelen Center for Bone & Joint Research in Minneapolis, Minnesota, most tests, including spinal research, are conducted using three MTS testing devices. One of these, the MTS Bionix MTS 810 load frame, is still in regular use more than 30 years after its development. These devices operate in conjunction with the MTS FlexTest digital control system and MultiPurpose TestWare software. Customers state that the advantages of MTS hardware and software not only include a reduction in evaluation time for spinal motion but also an increase in the overall reproducibility of tests. They also add that the continuous collaboration between biomechanical engineers, surgeons, and MTS technical staff is essential for the validation of devices and surgical methods at Excelen. [Case Study] Shell Element Test System Upgrade

The expertise and technology of MTS played a crucial role in the success of the upgrade.

Professor Evan Bentz from the University of Toronto and a research group from the Mark Hagin Structural Research Institute are conducting cutting-edge research on the properties of reinforced concrete under harsh conditions. With recent significant advances in concrete materials science, the engineers at the institute began to feel the limitations of their research tool, the Shell Element Test (SET) system. They believed that to successfully upgrade the SET system, they needed a vendor who could first clarify what was possible, and then another vendor to implement it. They found a manufacturer that could achieve both simultaneously: MTS. By early 2010, the upgrade of the SET system was completed, and this static testing system effectively transformed into a dynamic testing system with enhanced durability and performance. The upgraded SET system now allows for simulations that closely resemble the actual operating conditions of today’s reinforced concrete structures. [Case Study] Introduction of Material Testing System

Reduce the time for creating, setting up, and collecting data for test programs! Achieve improved productivity.

The National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University uses a wide range of MTS equipment, software, and accessories in its Fatigue and Fracture Research Lab to support testing requirements. These include hydraulic servo load frames, FlexTest GT digital servo controllers, TestStar controllers, TestWorks and MultiPurpose TestWare (MPT) software, hydraulic sources, transducers, strain gauges, displacement gauges, and tensile and displacement measurement equipment. To maximize the benefits of MTS products, the Fatigue and Fracture Research Lab collaborated with the company's consulting team to learn how to fully utilize specific features and functions. Ultimately, MTS solutions reduced the time spent on creating test programs, setting up tests, and collecting test data, allowing NIAR to improve testing productivity. *For more details, please contact us or refer to the catalog.*

[Case Study] Upgrade of High-Temperature Material Testing Equipment

We support UCF in conducting mechanical tests in extreme environments.

The University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando has built a reputation for high-quality education and technological innovation since its establishment in 1963. In particular, the MMAE program at the university has established solid partnerships over the years with global manufacturers such as Siemens Power Generation, Lockheed Martin, Pratt & Whitney, and Mitsubishi Power System, as well as institutions like the Kennedy Space Center. UCF has set a policy to expand its high-temperature materials testing facilities and make this field a cornerstone of research at the university. To enhance mechanical testing capabilities at high temperatures, it was necessary to equip a variety of instruments and tools, including load frames, control systems, and software, and a testing solution partner with expertise in integrating advanced systems was required. MTS was chosen for this purpose. Upgrading the materials characterization testing facilities in MMAE has brought significant benefits not only to students in the College of Engineering and Computer Science but also to UCF's commercial partners. For more details, please contact us or refer to the catalog.

[Case Study] Introduction of Model 320 2-Poster Testing Equipment

It contributes to maintaining the top position of one of the world's largest scooter manufacturers.

The Piaggio Group, represented by the Vespa brand, is a world-class manufacturer of motorized bicycles (mopeds), scooters, and motorcycles based in Pontedera, Italy, with an annual production of over 600,000 vehicles. Piaggio's seven brands are supported by 6,700 employees in 50 countries and five research and development centers. In November 2008, Piaggio introduced the MTS Model 320 two-poster testing system in its mechanical lab in Pontedera in close collaboration with MTS. This two-axis tire contact surface input simulator uses MTS RPC software to accurately and repeatedly reproduce loads caused by road surface inputs across the entire prototype vehicle, simulating loads and moments equivalent to test courses that include rough road testing. This allows the testing personnel to simulate conditions that a typical rider encounters during everyday driving, enabling them to obtain clear data on how the vehicle will ultimately perform after years of use. [Case Study] MTS Damper Testing Equipment Upgrade

MTS promotes testing optimization for global vehicle component manufacturers.

ZF Sachs has been using MTS products and services globally for many years. "We have collaborated with MTS for decades, and we are very satisfied with that relationship," said Mr. Freed. "In selecting a vendor for optimizing our damper testing program, MTS was the obvious choice." The optimization began with the installation of the latest MTS testing software at both the ZF Sachs research and development facility in Northville and damper testing facilities around the world.
